With a small class size and low teacher-to-student ratio, children receive individualized attention and guidance as they build confidence, independence, and a love for learning. Our mornings begin with open-ended play and hands-on exploration in sensory, science, math, literacy, art, and imaginative play centers nurturing curiosity and creativity in every child.

Group learning includes calendar time, songs, storytelling, phonemic awareness games, and interactive lessons that support early reading, writing, and math skills. Through engaging, developmentally appropriate activities, children practice recognizing letters and sounds, writing their names, understanding numbers and patterns, and building early literacy fluency—all while having fun.

Our curriculum is rooted in PreK for ME, Handwriting Without Tears, and Heggerty Phonemic Awareness, and is aligned with the Maine Early Learning and Development Standards. Social-emotional learning is a key part of each day, supported by Second Step® Early Learning and the Zones of Regulation giving children the tools to recognize their emotions, resolve conflicts, and build empathy and resilience. Each child is screened prior to enrollment or within 30 days of starting. Ongoing assessments guide our teaching throughout the year, with parent-teacher conferences held in both the fall and spring.  Our curriculum extends beyond the classroom, embracing daily outdoor adventures that encourage exploration, resilience, and a deep connection to nature.

This full-week program is ideal for families seeking a more immersive preschool experience before kindergarten. At House of Parker Preschool, your child will be seen, supported, and celebrated as they grow into capable, curious, and confident learners.
